Wildlife Week – May Half Term

May 23, 2026

May half term is Wildlife Week with Reg the Hedge, at The Alnwick Garden

Reg The Hedges’ Ranger Trail-

Reg the Hedge has discovered some mysterious animal tracks around The Garden, and he needs your help to identify them!

Grab your map and set off on an adventure through The Garden, visiting all the spots where these sneaky creatures have been seen. At each stop, take a rubbing of the tracks you find… then see if you can match each one to the animal that left it behind.

Craft Activities in Yurt -

It’s time to get crafty! Head over to the Yurt and create your very own paper beetles using card and glue.

As you build, listen to fascinating wildlife facts about insects and discover just how amazing these tiny creatures really are.

Wildlife Mansion Construction -

Head out to the lawn beside the Yurt and build your very own plant pot apartment to add to our giant Wildlife Bug Hotel!

Design a cosy space for your tiny guests, then label your room with your name so everyone can admire your creation. As you build, discover why bug hotels are such important shelters for insects and wildlife in the modern world.

Join our “Alnwick Garden Rangers” on a wildlife adventure around The Garden! -

Keep an eye out for our Rangers stationed in different wildlife hotspots. With binoculars and magnifying glasses in hand, they’ll help you track down specific animals and teach you all about their species and the environments they love most.

Spotted something exciting? Call over a Ranger to confirm your find and earn yourself a sticker!

Don’t forget to visit The Apiary in our Roots and Shoots Garden, free to enter, and check out the live wildlife cams around The Garden… what will you discover?
