Employability and Enterprise

Grow into Work:

The Grow into Work programme offers 4 weeks of work experience (3 DAYS A WEEK) alongside 6 sessions of 1:1 Employability support. Work experience is undertaken within one of the departments at The Alnwick Garden following an initial meeting to discuss how the scheme will best support you.

The scheme’s Employability support will focus on:

  • Job Searching Skills
  • Application Skills
  • Cover Letters
  • CV Building
  • Interview Preparation
  • Interview Skills

In addition to the above, The Alnwick Garden will reimburse travel costs and track participants for the following three months to offer assistance wherever possible, to assist with beneficiaries progression into employment, education or training.

Refreshments either provided or reimbursed along with travel paid.

Growing Together Northumberland:

Growing Together Northumberland supports individuals who are currently not engaged in education, employment, or training by fostering their confidence and addressing mental health challenges through horticultural activities and volunteering opportunities. With sites being located across Northumberland, volunteers can support their own communities to transform neglected areas into vibrant allotments, community gardens, and green spaces.

The aims of Growing Together Northumberland are:
Improve Wellbeing – through the benefits of gardening and helping others within the community.
Cultivate Skills – develop skills such as building confidence, team working, effective communication, problem solving and leadership skills through volunteering opportunities and work placements.
Raise Aspirations – opportunities to make those next steps in your journey into training, employment or further volunteering.

Programme Criteria: Volunteers – 16+ (no upper age limit), Currently NEET, Unemployed or Economically Inactive, interested in improving employment opportunities in the future, developing skills and improving wellbeing.

Seeds for Success:

6 days of information, advise and guidance for starting your own small business. Sessions on Finance, Marketing, Business Development, USP, Web/Social, Costs and Market Research.
