Cl’arty Crafting

Using air dry clay as a base material, children create a sculpture using their imagination. By collecting natural materials they’d find in the woods; leaves, twigs and pine cones, they can plan and develop their masterpiece, creating different colours and textures. Children then take their artwork home, let it dry and admire their ‘back to nature’ craft for years to come.

Suitable for: KS1/KS2/KS3
Topic covered: Art and Design

KS1– Through the use of a range of materials, children creatively design and make artistic master pieces. Encouraged to forage for materials in the woods, children will create a sculpture, developing and sharing their ideas, experiences and imagination with their peers. Our sessional leaders will encourage students to develop a wide range of art and design techniques in using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space.

KS2– In addition to the above, students will improve their mastery of art and design techniques using materials and tools to help with the creation of
their sculpture.

KS3– Students will increase their proficiency in the handling of different materials, analyse and evaluate their own work, and that of others in order to strengthen the visual impact and applications of their work.
