This Valentine’s Day, thought leadership meets lived experience as author Elly Chapple unveils Diagnosis: Human, a profound new book drawn from her journey with her daughter Ella – a DeafBlind, brilliant, unapologetically human force. The launch takes place at The Alnwick Garden, inviting the media, thinkers, policymakers, educators and community leaders to explore a narrative that challenges how we see difference, belonging, and what it means to be human in 2026.
In Diagnosis: Human, Chapple argues that society must shift from seeing difference as a “problem to be solved” to recognising it as part of our shared humanity. The book is an invitation to #FlipTheNarrative – transforming how we talk about inclusion, human worth and collective compassion.

About the Book
Diagnosis: Human is more than a memoir — it’s a cultural manifesto. Rooted in the author’s experience raising her daughter, Ella, who has challenged societal definitions of ability and “normality”, the book reframes how we understand human experience, difference and connection.
