We are excited to share that Her Grace, The Duchess of Northumberland, has authored two brand new books, which explain the story of her very own kingdom of Lilidorei.
Last week, a private launch was held at Lilidorei, where The Duchess was interviewed by the press, and took part in a private reading and sneak preview of the books with children from some of the local schools.
She said “I want readers to understand that Lilidorei is more than just a playground; it’s a living story, and now, through these books, everyone can be part of it.”
At the book launch and private reading, the Duchess said: “When I began to create Lilidorei, its story and inhabitants were alive in my mind, long before the village existed in reality.
The Duchess designed the Lilidorei attraction, which sits next to The Alnwick Garden, to encourage children to immerse themselves in their imagination. Her hope is that the books will further fuel the imagination of readers and visitors, as well as provide more context to the stories of the magical realm she created.

Amanita is the first in the Legends of Lildorei series, with more books set to follow. The novel is set in Lilidorei and follows the struggles of a young girl who doesn’t fit in the human world, who goes on to discover an enchanting and magical realm.
The book was released alongside an Illustrated Guide to Lilidorei, which reveals what the Lilidorei clans look like, how they live and why the village is so special to them.
