Young Gardeners is a horticulture initiative designed to support young people with additional needs, and their families. The programme provides opportunities to learn new skills while also fostering friendships and meaningful connections with others.
During the 2024/25 programme, nine families took part, visiting their allotment plots each month, with the following key outcomes achieved:
Increased time outdoors and opportunities for families to spend quality time together.
Improved knowledge of healthy eating through hands-on growing and food education.
Development of transferable skills, enabling participants to continue gardening projects at home.
The programme not only nurtures practical skills but also promotes wellbeing, inclusion, and stronger family relationships through shared horticultural activities.
