A message from our CEO

Dear Members,

Once again, we’ve had wonderful summer season here, and I wanted to take a moment to thank our friends for joining in all the fun we’ve been having at The Alnwick Garden and Lilidorei over the past few months.

We’ve had a very busy and successful summer season, with the summer ball games and water pistol fights being a brilliant highlight during the scorching weather we had this year. As always, our Rose Garden has produced a beautiful display, attracting tens of thousands of visitors from across the country, and beyond.

More recently, we have celebrated 25 years of our amazing volunteers. Many memories and stories were shared by our volunteers at our most recent Volunteers Annual General Meeting, alongside Her Grace, The Duchess of Northumberland.

As the weather changes and we welcome the cooler weather, we are quickly heading towards the festive season and have many Christmas and festive offerings on sale now. I encourage you to book early to secure your preferred slots and make use of some exclusive members-only deals available for events throughout the autumn and winter seasons.

Thank you, as ever, for your continued support. I wish you and your families a wonderful Christmas and New Year full of festivities, special moments, and cheer! All the best for 2026 when it comes!

Warmest regards,
Mark

A healthy environment is essential for our garden to flourish and for us to do what we do best. We’re pleased to announce that our latest Carbon Footprint Report has just been published and is now available to read on our website by clicking here.

What’s in bloom?

Magnolia Kobus (Mokryeon) – These trees showcase their beautiful displays of flowers earlier in the year, but the gardeners were very excited to report this new and slightly unusual-looking display. For the first time since these were planted, the trees have produced some fruits which consist of vibrant clusters of seeds.

Colchicum Autumnale (Autumn Crocus) – Colchicum plants have 5–8 dark green leaves that can grow up to 10 inches long in the spring. In late summer or early fall, naked flower stems rise from the ground and produce star-shaped flowers that are lavender-pink to lilac-pink.

Hydrangea Quercifolia (Oakleaf Hydrangea) – These are the only hydrangeas which produce flowers in cone-shaped clusters. The flowers change in throughout the seasons, varying from creamy white/pink in the summer to a rusty-brown in the autumn and winter.

Celebrating 25 Years of our Volunteers

We’ve recently hosted our volunteers Annual General Meeting at The Garden, where we celebrated 25 years of our wonderful volunteers who have been the backbone of The Garden from the very beginning.

We were honoured to be joined by Her Grace, The Duchess of Northumberland, whose passion and support has always been at the heart of our story. Together, we shared in a day of joy, gratitude, and togetherness.

To every single volunteer, past and present, thank you! Without you, The Alnwick Garden simply wouldn’t be what it is today. Here’s to 25 years of service, kindness and community.
