The Sights of Spring

Although Winter doesn’t officially end until March 20th 2022, the sights of Spring in The Garden are already bursting through thanks to the particularly mild February weather.

If you are a planning to visit us soon, here are just some of the blooms you may spot along your way…

Snowdrops Everywhere…

We saw our first Snowdrops of the season back in January and now The Garden is a sea of white. We recommend taking some time by the pond, listening to the ducks and watching the Snowdrops glisten in the sun.

Chimonanthus Praecox…

The Ornamental Garden is putting on a Spring Show and is already showcasing an incredible feast for the eyes and nose! Looking like little drops of sunshine on its long branches, Chimonanthus Praecox is certainly providing light to The Ornamental Garden.

They aren’t just a pretty face however, its sweet scent can be enjoyed from across The Garden, especially on a warm day.

Hidden Primoses…

Harder to spot but currently thriving by the pathway of the Oldest Tree are these bright, white Primroses. If you’re passing by, we recommend keeping an eye out as they are working hard to provide to bit of Spring magic to a Winter Woodland.

Early Iris’…

This English Iris can currently be seen sprouting in patches in all corners of The Ornamental Garden. You can spy them blossoming amongst the Snowdrops and Hellebores, although you may have to get up close and personal to snap the perfect Iris image!

The first Daffodil…

By far the most exciting and involving an element of a treasure hunt! Gardener Amy spotted our first and currently only bright yellow Daffodil. Situated amongst the banks of The Cherry Orchard, it is only making us more excited for Spring.

If you do visit us, make sure to tag us in your pictures! We love to see them and enjoy sharing our favourites
