This summer is a lovely time to experience The Alnwick Garden. The Rose Garden becomes a riot of colour and scent as more than three thousand David Austin Roses come into flower. Visit the Ornamental Garden for a summer treat, with giant delphiniums, more roses. For families, during July there's a programme inspired by Roses with the chance to join workshops to make corsages, bath bombs, soapballs and more! In August The Castle & The Garden once again welcome Alnwick's eclectic music festival, and an exhibition of tapestries from the Embroiderer's Guild.
Here’s a flavour of the family programme at other times of the year…
Autumn and winter
A month of book and story-inspired activitiy in October, a fantastic day of spooky family activities for Halloween, and a wonderfully magical Christmas programme with lantern parades, trails and Father Christmas.
Spring
A special weekend of classic family fun for Easter, and lots of activities for the school holidays and bank holiday weekends.
The Roots and Shoots programme is a collection of inspiring and fun workshops, classes, tours and activities for the whole family, in gardening, food, art, well-being and flowers. See the calendar for details of the Roots and Shoots programme, or visit the Roots and Shoots pages to find out more.
The Elderberries project is an evolving community project group for people over 50 years of age. It’s a chance for older people to get together with old friends as well as meet new people, to enjoy experiences like classis tea dances, creative workshops and activities to enhance well-being. For those that cannot travel, the Elderberries programme offers outreach activities and visits. See the calendar or click here for details of the Elderberries programme, or visit the community projects pages to find out more.
The Alnwick Garden Trust, the charity that owns The Garden, is fundraising for The Garden’s community projects, including arts, Roots and Shoots and Elderberries activities. If you can help, click here.
