Come and join us for some fantastic bushcraft activities this half term at The Alnwick Garden.
Fancy yourself as a budding Ant Middleton or see yourself as the next Bear Grylls? Then this half term, we have just the activity for you when Adventure Northumberland will be transforming our Woodland Walk into an outdoor training zone.
This activity is FREE with a valid Garden entry ticket.
There will be numerous activities to choose from with something for children of all ages. You can pick and choose which activities you take part in so make sure you leave enough time to try to do them all!*
10-11 –Fairies hair bracelets and stickmen
Make your own fairies hair bracelet and/or create your own stick man from natural resources.
11-12 – Shelter building
Create mini shelters for the pixies to keep warm over the winter or learn to build a survival shelter if you are stuck out in the wilderness.
12-1 – Nature orienteering/treasure trail
Find the pictures of woodland items hidden in the woods. Then find and bring back the woodland items to prove you found the pictures. A great way to explore the woods!
1-2 “Night” line!
Make your way along the trail through the woods holding onto the rope to guide you. It would be simple if you weren’t blindfolded! A challenging and fun activity which encourages communication and support.
2-3 Fire lighting and marshmallow toasting
From collecting the right resources to how to start your fire from natural resources right through to the most important part – toasting the perfect marshmallow!
3-4 Picture frames and mud faces
Make your own basic picture frame from sticks and you can even create your own natural masterpiece to hang in it. Get your hands mucky and create a muddy face in the woods to scare off Jack Frost.
You can also head to the Crafty Cottage for some half term story telling!
Mother Nature would like to tell you a story that will unleash your imagination and fill your mind with the wonders of the outside world.
Come along for story time from Saturday 16th - Sunday 24th February at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
Please note that our Pavilion Cafe is undergoing extensive refurbishment work and the food and drink offering this February will be slightly different to usual. You are still of course welcome to bring a picnic but if you wish to find out more about our temporary cafe relocation, you can read more here.
