The Alnwick Garden Trust
Ways to support Gardening on a Grand Scale
The Alnwick Garden is more than a garden, it is a transformational cultural project. In a relatively short space of time, despite its early stage of capital development, The Garden has become recognised not only for contemporary gardening excellence but also as a project using its resources to provide real, measurable benefit to people.
The Alnwick Garden is managed by an independent registered charity - The Alnwick Garden Trust (Registration No. 1095435). The Trust is responsible for delivering clear charitable objectives, as well as capital fundraising and the development, management and maintenance of the project. It is also the body that holds the capital assets in trust, and, as a charity, is responsible for the Friends. The transformational impact of The Alnwick Garden Trust's objectives and activities are being felt nationally and internationally.
The Trust seeks to dramatically change for the better the cultural environment and help people transform their conceptions, expectations and aspirations and that of their communities through six key strands of activity; learning and skill development, access and activity addressing disability, play, healthy activity and wellbeing, experiences of the arts and economic renaissance.
Spurred on by its phenomenal achievements to date, The Trust is moving forward to complete its vision.

Healthy activity and wellbeing
Experiences of the arts
Economic renaissance
The Alnwick Garden Trust has, so far, completed Phases One and Two of The Garden's development. You can read about these completed areas in About The Garden (link). Without Phase Three, The Garden still lacks essential elements in the overall vision that will make it a truly transformational cultural project of world-class standard, delivering real, measurable benefits to people. You can read about the areas still to come in About The Garden (link). Once fully complete, The Garden will be a place where visitors can enjoy stunning surroundings while learning more about themselves and their cultural environment. It is vital that we complete The Garden to become financially sustainable and allow the project to be experienced by generations to come.
The Trust has a policy to maximize accessibility to The Garden and therefore entry is kept low and cannot generate sufficient income to complete the development. Therefore to progress to Phase Three, we are completely reliant on fundraising campaigns.
Various public sector bodies have committed their support, but this must be matched by private sector funders. We seek funds from the private sector and the charitable sector, including the Lottery, in order to complete a world-class garden that will stimulate, inspire and educate 364 days a year.
