Self-guided Visit
The Alnwick Garden is a unique celebration of the creative vision of Jane Percy, The Duchess of Northumberland. She wanted to develop a garden that was a place of learning, excitement and fun for future generations as well as our own.

The Alnwick Garden offers a source of inspiration for students of all ages. Wandering from the excitement of the bubbling magic of the water jets to the quiet peace of the Ornamental Garden you are struck by the attention to detail and the care in which this garden has been created. Listen to the changing sound of the water as it rushes over weirs and babbles over the rills.

As a learning resource The Garden can be used to cover many subjects; science, art, horticulture, design and technology, literacy and tourism. In this teachers guide you will find resources to help you plan your visit and enable you to take a little magic back into the classroom.

We want you and your group to enjoy your visit and ensure that you return each year to see how we have grown. After your visit we will be happy to discuss your future curriculum plans and how you might build on your visit to The Alnwick Garden.

We are keen to involve teachers and educators in our growing community, so please send an email to alisonhamer@alnwickgarden.com. We will inform you of forthcoming events, teacher days, new learning programmes and resources. We will be offering teacher inset days in Creative Arts, Using the Environment and Artists in Residence Programmes.
