In Bloom, June
In Bloom This Month
Assorted, irresistible scents fill the air. In the Ornamental Garden find the shrubby mock orange (philadelphus), Jerusalem sage (phlomis) and valerian (centranthus), all of which are distinctive. And don't miss the tall (8`) yellow scabiosa (Cephalaria gigantea).

Highlight of the year for many is the first and best flush of roses, which arrives around Midsummers Day. Constant removal of spent blooms keeps many of our 3,000 roses flowering deep into autumn and what a range we have. Many forms are represented, from the earliest dating circa 1300, to David Austin's creation (English Rose), the first of which was raised 30 years ago.

Tips For Your Garden
From Our Gardening Team
Everything is coming up roses this month - from simple wild briar to the most opulent garden rose the garden is wreathed in blossom. Regular deadheading will keep your roses in bloom for longer and a regular spraying should keep the aphids at bay.

In the vegetable garden it's a time of plenty with early crops ready for picking, perfect for that al fresco dinner you were planning. Outdoor tomatoes can be planted to supplement your greenhouse grown - youngsters will enjoy picking the ripe tomatoes on a regular basis.

Remember to water your bedding plants and pots - terracotta pots require more than their plastic counterparts. One of our staff actually lines her terracotta planters with a plastic pot for ease and to help conserve water!

Feed your lawn to ensure its lush state for all those outdoor events, a regular mow should help the lawn look tidy.
