The Bamboo Labyrinth
About The Feature
Planted with a new Chinese variety of bamboo "Fargesia" rufa on waist-high banks, the Bamboo Labyrinth is designed to be very different to the time-honoured labyrinth.

This walk-through, entertaining feature was designed by Adrian Fisher, one of the world's leading maze-makers. He is known for maze design with distinctive patterns and exquisite puzzles. His work includes a world record breaking "maize maze" in USA, Blenheim Palace hedgemaze, RNIB maze for the blind and Jersey Water Maze.

Set in a breezy corner of The Garden, the Bamboo Labyrinth features distinctive paving depicting the path as a stream, running along in the bed of the walkway. The paths contain bronze leaves, scattered at random, looking as if they have been blown down from the bamboo.

To create the Bamboo Labyrinth hundreds of tons of earth and sand had to be removed from the rest of The Garden.

What You'll Experience
As you follow the mysterious twisting paths, the bamboo rustles around your ears. As the bamboo moves in the wind, you catch glimpses of people in other areas before they disappear from view again.
