The Alnwick Garden set for a cracking Easter

01 April 2012

Visitors to The Alnwick Garden this Easter are sure to have a roaring good time when they come face to face with an enormous Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Visitors to The Alnwick Garden this Easter are sure to have a roaring good time when they come face to face with an enormous, animatronic Tyrannosaurus Rex. Standing two metres tall and five metres long, The Garden’s largest visitor to date, will be stomping his way in to The Garden on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th April, to track and stalk unsuspecting visitors!

For an Easter experience to remember, take part in a one of a kind Dinosaur Dozen Egg Hunt from Friday 6th – Monday 9th April and navigate around the Easter trail with help from The Hatter, spotting the dozen decorative dinosaur eggs belonging to the fearsome T-Rex, hidden in each of the striking gardens. Survive the trail and create your own prehistoric egg design with one of the visiting freelance artists before competing in the big egg roll through the Cherry Orchard.

To celebrate these terrifically terrifying encounters with the T-Rex, The Alnwick Garden is launching a FEAR FACTOR Photo and Video Competition inviting visitors to capture their best FEAR photo or best FEAR scream on video, alongside the giant animatronic T-Rex. Dig out your best photo or video and upload to The Alnwick Garden Facebook page, for the chance to win one of two Deluxe Easter Chocolate Baskets.

Enjoy a day of madness with The Hatter on Saturday 7th April from 11am – 4pm, who will be on hand to welcome all visitors to The Garden. The Hatter will be joining in the Easter celebration’s, posing for photos and helping visitors find their way to the Dinosaur Dozen Egg Trail.

For the perfect keepsake in memory of the day, come and see The Shadow Cutter who will be creating beautiful traditional hand-cut silhouettes of visitors, using the timeless art form of silhouette-cutting. One of the last true remaining silhouette artists in the UK, The Shadow Cutter will be in The Garden on Saturday 31st March - Sunday 1st April, Friday 6th and Sunday 8th April and Saturday14th – Sunday 15th April, producing treasured profile portraits of you or your loved one, using only black paper and scissors.

The introduction of The Alnwick Garden ‘Unlocked Ticket’ from 31st March will mean visitors to these fun filled Easter celebrations will be entitled to unlimited return visits for 12 months during opening hours, to enjoy an abundance of events, garden activities and spectacular seasons throughout the year.
