What's your poison?

The Treehouse at The Alnwick Garden is shaking things up with the launch of its tantalising range of new and exclusive cocktails. Developed by the Duchess of Northumberland who sipped, stirred, tried and tested each of the delectable concoctions to reach palatable perfection, the bespoke range launches this week. 

Speaking about her new venture, the Duchess commented:

I’ve never liked wine but my children introduced me to vodka which has changed my life. I’ve developed this range of cocktails and I hope visitors enjoy them as much as I do.

There are six mouth-watering cocktails for guests to the Treehouse Restaurant to indulge in including Deadly Jane, Delicious Jane, Dirty Jane and Desirable Jane, each laced with their own wicked twist and individual flair. The Alnwick Garden cocktail, a tribute to the contemporary Garden, is aptly served in a quirky watering-can, and is sure to have heads turning and tongues wagging. The BIG Martini is the true show-stopper on the menu arriving in a huge martini glass, perfect for sharing and the ideal accompaniment to any celebration.

Working with the Duchess to create the bespoke range, David Scott, manager at the Treehouse Restaurant commented:

Creating this brand new cocktail menu has been a complete whirlwind journey – from visiting the finest cocktail houses in London with The Duchess, to spending hours selecting the perfect glasses, I just know these cocktails are going to be an exciting addition to our restaurant’s unique appeal.

To have the Duchess’s name to them is something I feel is vital, as Her Grace has been so passionately involved in the whole process – and we had such fun – we wanted to reflect that in the names. Exciting cocktails are something we feel is missing from Alnwick, so we decided to do something about it – I think you’ll agree the result is delicious!

• Delicious Jane
  Vodka, shaken with freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, topped up with passion fruit syrup and finished with a dash of Grenadine £6.95
• Dirty Jane
  Vodka, Chambord Raspberry Liqueur, sweetened with sugar syrup & topped up with club soda. Just a squeeze of fresh lemons and limes garnished with raspberries & blackberries - £7.95
• Deadly Jane
  Alnwick Rum (dark) and White Rum, shaken with a deadly mix of Apricot Brandy, freshly squeezed Orange Juice & Pineapple juice, juice of ½ lime, topped with Grenadine and finished with pineapple chunks - £7.95

  Bacardi with half lime, laced with sugar with a splash of soda and muddled with fresh mint leaves - £6.95

  Gordon’s gin, shaken with freshly squeezed cranberry and grapefruit juice, simply garnished with fresh lime. £6.95 single, £10.00 to share
