Known as The Garden Bunch, this eclectic ensemble of other-worldly individuals will be bustling around their individual gardens throughout the summer holidays until 9th September, keen to interact and share their striking contemporary playground with visitors.
Best of the Bunch:
Box, the socially inept professor, charged by his love for the fundamentals of logic, geometry and symmetry, will play gatekeeper to the Ornamental Garden. Fastidious in his maintenance of this structured garden brimming with green foliage, flowers, fruit and aerial crab apple laceworks, Box will be keen to enlist the help of visitors in his pursuit of pruned perfection.
Prickly in nature, Thorn, the love scorned lover of Petal, dwells in the beauty of the Rose Garden. A self-inflicted exile, he surrounds himself with the riotous colour and scents of over 3,000 David Austin roses, pining for his beloved Petal.
Having once loved each other beneath the pergolas of tumbling honeysuckle and clematis, Petal, a sassy seductress has since wandered beyond these comforting boundaries, intrigued in what else lies within the garden walls. Visitors are invited to see if they can hush Thorn’s laments or tame Petal’s intrigue long enough to discover what happened to these lost lovers.
Hidden in the topiary coils of the Serpent Garden comes a force of nature in the form of the dynamic HDuo. The Garden’s most excitable pairing, HDuo are bubbling with enthusiasm and always up for japes, jokes and mischief. Join them for a tug-o-war across the dramatic backdrop of the Grand Cascade, or be mesmerised as HDuo mirror each other’s actions as they play amongst the sleek water sculptures.
Digger & Potts, a bumbling pairing, can be found roaming the grounds looking to handle the simplest of garden tasks but causing more problems than they solve along the way. Easily distracted by visitors and the chance for some idle play, it will be winter before these unruly twosome complete even the smallest of tasks.
Last but not least, nestled among the largest Tai Haku Cherry Orchard in the UK, the poet Sir Liloquy can be found tweeting haikus throughout the day. Join him on the peaceful slope of the orchard to relax and breathe in the magnificent views from across The Garden landscapes.
