To coincide with the Bee Detective's visit, The Garden will be buzzing with talks, walks, bee-utiful arts and crafts, honey-tastings and visits to our show hives, which bring the world of bees alive from fun and facts.
Throughout the ‘Bee Happy’ programme, The Garden’s beekeeping experts will deliver a number of daily ‘Bee Talks’ in the Roots and Shoots Garden, also demonstrating how real hives work. Visitors will be invited into The Garden’s new show hive to try and locate the Queen Bee and also see first-hand the breakdown of the bee business, learning why it is split between colony and honey production.
Bee enthusiasts will get the opportunity to bumble around in a beekeeper suit, handle the hive smokers, learn why they are needed, and watch the live hive at work – an exhilarating experience sure to get you buzzing about bees!
As part of ‘Bee Happy’ and in celebration of the humble honeybee, budding finger-painters will be invited to get creative in The Garden’s Pavilion by joining a team of professional artists who will be on hand to help visitors create bee-inspired works of art.
